Aikido Nobakama
About Our Aikido Nobakama
In addition to traditional Aikido Hakama, Seido offers three models of Nobakama that are 100% made and handsewn in Japan.
The Nobakama or "field Hakama" is a Hakama with only 3 pleats on the front instead of 5. The legs are much tighter, which facilitates movements and makes it easier to wash them. This type of Hakama was occasionally worn by O'Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, as well as Master Saito (Iwama Ryu). Seido is the only Japanese company to offer Nobakama with an Aikido finish (flexible Koshiita, 7 lines of stitching on the straps etc.), these models are very popular in Japan, especially among practitioners of the Iwama Aikido and Kashima Shin Ryu. The Nobakama are offered without logo Aikikai, this type of Hakama not being used within this group.
If you wish to custom your Hakama to adjust the fit you can simply add custom options available on each product page before putting the Hakama into the cart. Check out the "How to Choose your Hakama" for more details.
